It's plant watering time here at HPH HQ! . As you can see if you swipe, an easy dark bathroom hack is to use a botanical shower curtain...the only plants that can manage here are a golden pothos + asparagus fern so this can help to make things feel a bit more #junglevibes ! . Over winter, don't forget to keep your foliage plants free from dust — it helps keep the leaves healthy + is a good pest prevention tip too. Use water at room temperature + wipe any larger leaves with a cloth (I use an old tshirt!) to give them a bit of a pamper. . Plant styling tip: On that note, have a go at creating your own mood-boosting set up (if your light levels allow) by adding a few tropical plants to your bathroom. Big leafy plants have big impact + will thrive in these spaces, which often have indirect light + increased humidity. #foliagefanatic . . A bit of plant care + repotting always calms me down and lifts my mood [ad] 💚 . . . I made this kalanchoe planter as a present for my friend to put on her sunny windowsill — they will thrive there + are just coming into bloom. They are a great choice as an affordable present for the person that doesn't always remember to water their plants! As succulents, kalanchoe store water in their fleshy foliage + over winter, I water mine every 10days or so around the base of the plant (I try not to get water on the leaves or flowers). The spider plant +dracaena are also heading off to a new home as a moving present after a re-pot. Houseplants are a great way to give your space a New Year re-fresh but they can be much more than that too — an instant mood booster, helping to relieve stress + improve wellbeing #bluemonday . . I'm collaborating with @alwayskalanchoe this week on sharing some plant styling tips, showing how I use houseplants to give me a boost when I need it + to help banish those blue Monday / January blues . . . . . | www.houseplanthouse.com | . . .
Sansevieria are definitely happier here, just that bit closer to the west facing window 💚 remember that whilst some plants like these snakes (and zz's) can survive pretty well with lower light levels, to thrive and flourish they do need a decent amount of light! . . . . . . | www.houseplanthouse.com | . . .
The new growth on my raven is ever so slowly turning a more inky hue... It's taking forever, but I love that contrast between that bright, zingy lime green and moody blue-black so much! . The foliage actually goes black from the tips of the leaves as if it has been dipped in a dye, its quite magical to observe 💚🖤 I'll show you a close up on my @instagram Stories later! . . . . . . | www.houseplanthouse.com | . . .

Ready to bloom any minute now, and I love how these buds illuminate in the sunshine like this! The fuzzy texture of the stems make it tricky to focus but you get the idea 💚 . . . | www.houseplanthouse.com | #🌿 . . . .
Probably my favourite type of leaf to watch unfurl 💚 This might be a weird observation but I am completely mesmerised when a new monstera leaf is unfurling and it looks really 'full', much like the way flower heads sometimes do before they bloom. There's a sort of 'weight' to the leaf as it hangs; its potential suspended like this in a remarkably sculptural way. . . . . . . | www.houseplanthouse.com | . . .
It's got to that stage where the pilea pups are taking over! . There's a new post over on the blog sharing some of my other winter plant propagation projects... including my sansevieria, zz plants, tradescantia, oh and pilea of course! 💚 . . . . . .
