Ficus Audrey doesn't like winter much. It's natural for ficus to lose the bottom leaves when entering dormancy so don't panic too much if this is happening to your ficus family! This is a natural part of their growth cycle and a sign for you to reduce watering πŸ’š I've been shooting a new piece β€” here's the first from my HPH plant lab series #HPHplantlab ...more coming soon! #ficusbenghalensis . . . If you have any winter plant care questions, there's a blog post on my website if you fancy a read and also a post about yellowing leaves on your houseplants β€” I'll pop a link in my stories. | www.houseplanthouse.com | . . . . .
My first winter with this begonia inca flame... Please send me your advice on how to keep it alive and well (I'd quite like it not to die)! πŸ’š . My A TO Z OF HOUSEPLANTS is on my @instagram stories and today's post is about where the name 'begonia' came from! . Also on my blog β€” | www.houseplanthouse.com | . . . .
Marble queen + I πŸ’š . This December over on my @instagram stories I'm going to be sharing my 'HPH A-Z OF HOUSEPLANTS' with you all. If you wanted to know where the names for some of your favourite houseplants come from I'll be posting a plant of the day assigned to each letter... I hope you enjoy! πŸ’šπŸŒΏ . . . | www.houseplanthouse.com | . . .
It's that time of year again. It's been so dark today! I wanted to post this to say not to panic if your Alocasia has foliage turning all shades of autumn colour, and/or dropping its leaves... It's part of the life cycle of the plant! Even if your Alocasia loses all of its leaves, you can keep the 'corms' (like bulbs - where the plant stores its energy) and repot these, they'll start growing again come Spring. . Oh yes, and if you still have some leaves left, be sure to keep them clean free from dust (which I find is a good deterrent for spider mites). . . If you have any winter plant care questions, there's a blog post on my website if you fancy a read β€” I'll pop a link in my stories. | www.houseplanthouse.com | . . . . .
Tradescantia fluminensis tricolour is not a crispy mess yet πŸ’š inconsistent watering and dry air exacerbates the issue so with this one, keep a check on watering this time of year in particular! . . . Share your pink plants with us@therealhouseplantsof_ig by using our tag #onwednesdaysweplantpink . . | www.houseplanthouse.com | . . .
That morning glow πŸ’š observing the changing of the seasons is one of my favourite things. When the trees outside my window drop their leaves this time of year, my living room gets more morning light (which allowed me to take this photo!) . . . I moved some plants around a bit last night and also repotted these sanseveria, I'll show you over on my @instagram stories later . | www.houseplanthouse.com |
Pilea baby in thrifted pot πŸ’š I'll show you how it looked a few months ago on my @instagramstories later! . . . | www.houseplanthouse.com | . .
Philodendron Friday πŸ’š . With all the incredible philos around at the moment, the more 'basic' varieties can get pushed to the side a bit, such as the humble philodendron scandens... Such a classic for me. In terms of plant styling, I love pairing it with neon pothos as I have here in my bedroom! . . . . . . | www.houseplanthouse.com | . . . .
