Repotting Diaries #8 : Potting up some of my winter propagations + more!

Welcome back! Today’s post is the first Repotting Diaries of the growing season + of 2021 too. Repotting is an aspect of plant care I find really therapeutic + a process I sorely miss over the Winter months. During the colder part of the year I rarely carry out any repotting (unless there’s an emergency)…

Getting my Peperomia hope to trail

I currently have two Peperomia hopes in my collection + whenever I share a photo of either plants over on Instagram I always get some questions about their growth habit + more specifically, how I’ve got my plants to trail in the way they do! A lot of plants have a tendency to grow horizontally…

A HPH guide to hard-to-kill houseplants

Today’s post is my top 10 easy-care, hard-to-kill houseplants + the second in my series of ‘HPH guides’, after putting together the low light tolerant article that went up a few weeks ago. Soon after sharing that one, I got a call from a friend that prompted me to write this particular guide next… The…

My current Pilea collection (+ growing experiments)

I thought it was about time I put together a post that shares how my current Pilea collection is doing — these plants do have a tendency to struggle over the winter months, so this post is a very real reflection of how they are all looking right now! In all honesty, I don’t stress…

Stromanthe thalia triostar Care Guide

I’m not entirely sure what it is about my Stromanthe that just makes me smile when I see it — I think it’s a combination of how the array of colours on the foliage seem to perk up whatever room I pop it in, along with it’s co-ordinating turned-leg, light pink planter which just seems…

A HPH guide to low light tolerant houseplants

The most commonly asked customer question I’ve encountered since working with houseplants is without a doubt ‘…what plants are best for a place that doesn’t get a lot of light?!’. And it’s a good question. A question that I have been sorely reminded of this winter in this black hole of a cottage, whilst frantically…

Fittonia: Nerve Plant Care Guide

Fittonia come in a rainbow of colours but are notorious for being a pretty fussy plant. When I shared a photo of my plant at the end of last year over on my instagram, I received LOTS of messages asking how I have kept mine alive for so many years + for a blogpost that…

HPH visits… The Barbican Conservatory

Today’s post is the third in my HPH visits… series + the first of 2021. As I’ve said previously, this seasonal shift means that houseplant repotting will pause for a few months as many plants take their winter rest. So in lieu of my regular ‘repotting diaries’ blogposts (+ as we are spending more time…

Kalanchoe orgyalis ‘copper spoons’ care guide

Today’s post is a reader request + is all about caring for kalanchoe orgyalis, aka ‘copper spoons‘ plant. These #tradescantiafluminensistricolor cuttings have been in water longer than I care to admit, so it’s time to pot up! (I’ll show you later on stories)🪴💕 Today’s blogpost is an exciting one as it’s the first repotting diaries of the growing season — hooray! 🎉
You might remember these monstera adansonii stems I’ve been propagating... well today I potted up some of them up to make a new little plant! Not all of the stems have rooted yet (they can be very slow in cold weather!) but they haven’t rotted either so I’ll keep waiting to see if anything happens now that Spring is here!🤞🏻 #monsteramonday 🌱 🍃
If you need a little bit of direction or encouragement to get prepping your houseplants for Spring, today’s blogpost is for you! 🐣Writing this update post has really motivated me to get going with my Spring plant care — because this year more than ever, my plants could definitely do with some care and attention — it was a long winter!
My hanging plant gang are all lined up ready for a bit of a haircut! — 🍃💇🏻‍♀️
My begonia sisters in the 5pm golden light… the evenings are getting lighter at last! 🍃☀️
Happy #monsteramonday from me + my biggest plant! 👋🏻💚 My three monsteras are all in desperate need of a re-pot so I’m psyching myself up for this hefty task! (I’m planning on tackling it on the weekend...) Whilst it’s a big job to do them all in one session, I prefer to make up a big tub of my potting mix, put some music on, make a coffee...or three(!)+ slowly work through it. It’s been a long, cold winter here so it’s time to give these plants a bit of love + attention! 😊
Today’s blogpost is my top 10 hard-to-kill houseplants, some of which are in this photo! The plants I’ve featured are all ones I have had personal experience with growing for a number of years. I’ve chosen them based on their resilience + longevity in my home + they are also ones that I recommend to my customers or clients + often use when plant styling for new plant lovers💚
